Foodbank

At AFECC we recognise that our duty of care to the public extends way beyond the Muslim community, rather it encompasses the community as a whole. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) once said: “A man is not a believer who fills his stomach while his neighbour is hungry.” We feel this perfectly portrays our values as an institution and it’s precisely why we launched our food bank in 2015.

During the last two years we have witnessed the food bank grow exponentially in terms of the amount of food being donated, the increase in our network of associations, our activities in conjunction with handing out food and our plans to take the project further. Taking this into account we consider this to be among our most vital projects.

People of all faiths and backgrounds can be found at our food bank as well as the homeless, elderly, those with disabilities, social insecurities and those whose benefits have been cut off. We take great pleasure in providing them with the assistance they require as well as a morale boost to keep them positive. People have been brought together, the ties of friendship have been strengthened and we have inspired each other under one roof.
